The City of North Las Vegas has recently announced that Serafin Calvo will receive the 2021 Vegas Inc. Angel Award for Volunteer of the Year.
Calvo, the city's Parking Services and Homelessness Initiatives manager, received his award at a ceremony at Westgate Resorts on Sept. 30, according to a release from the City of North Las Vegas.
“Congratulations to our long-time Advisory Board member and Super volunteer Serafin Calvo," Project150lv announced on Twitter. "He walks the walk!!"
Calvo was recognized for his voluntary contributions in the community over the course of 30 years.
His volunteer efforts include working with youth, adopting families in need or mourning the death of a loved one, and sitting on the advisory board of Project 150, which offers homeless high school students with meals, mentors and other services.
Additionally, Calvo was a finalist for the 2021 Governor's Points of Light Lifetime Achievement Award, which recognizes Nevadans who have made significant contributions to the community.
