Rep. Steven Horsford, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Nevada's 4th district, has recently shared his views on significant issues via social media. Horsford, who replaced Ruben Kihuen in 2019 and previously served in the Nevada Senate from 2009 to 2013, addressed healthcare reform and gun violence prevention.
On March 23, 2025, Rep. Horsford commemorated the 15th anniversary of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), highlighting its impact on nearly 50 million Americans, including almost half a million Nevadans. He expressed concern over GOP lawmakers' attempts to dismantle the ACA, stating that "Nevadans shouldn’t be forced to trade their health care for handouts to billionaires."
The following day, March 24, Horsford reflected on the #MarchForOurLives movement against gun violence. Sharing a personal connection to the cause due to losing his father to a shooting at age 19, he emphasized his commitment to prevention and justice. He stated that "That pain fuels my fight for prevention, intervention, and justice."
Later that same day, Rep. Horsford addressed a recent tragedy in Las Cruces, New Mexico—a mass shooting involving an AK-47 that resulted in three deaths and fourteen injuries. Some victims remain in trauma care with potential fatalities anticipated. He reported on this incident by saying "A mass shooting by a man with an AK-47 has left 3 dead and 14 injured."
