County of Churchill recently issued the following announcement.
First in a series of stories on primary local contractors working to build the Rafter 3C Arena.
As Churchill County looks to its early June opening of the Rafter 3C Arena at the fairgrounds, we will highlight several of the local, primary contractors involved in creating and building this new facility.
First up is Lumos and Associates. From their office on South Maine Street in Fallon, the company did all the civil design including earthwork, utilities, grading and paving while also administering the civil work and the structural concrete contracts. They also served as the on-site testing firm for compaction and concrete and they performed all inspection on that work. Part of their contract administration duties involved reviewing and approving the certified payrolls for all contractors on site.
Chris Spross, public works director for the county who served as the general contractor for the Rafter 3C project, said Lumos and Associates was fantastic to work with at all levels. “I’ve worked with them for 20 years and they are very professional; I have a lot of respect for them.”
Spross said Lumos representatives were at all weekly stakeholder meetings and project progress meetings since the inception of the Rafter 3C.
Lumos sees itself as a problem-solving firm and Spross said they were instrumental in the successful completion of the project due to their attention to detail and proactive stance in identifying and resolving potential issues.
Spross estimates there were about eight to 10 Lumos employees directly involved with the Rafter 3C project and were supported by many more staff members at the firm.
Their contract to date with Churchill County for the Rafter 3C Arena is $285,000.
The Rafter 3C Arena is Churchill County’s newest event space and is a unique feature in the county. It is expected to be an economic driver for the community as events are booked and spectators arrive beginning this summer.
