Small Business Job Fair Nov. 6

1

City of North Las Vegas recently issued the following announcement.

Small Business Job Fair on Nov. 6, Offering Many $15/hr Jobs and $500 Signing Bonuses

Southern Nevada’s local governments are joining forces to host a first-of-its-kind Small Business Job Fair that will offer many $15-an-hour jobs and $500 signing bonuses for qualifying new workers.

The Small Business Job Fair will be held on Saturday, Nov. 6, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Expo at World Market Center, 435 S. Grand Central Parkway, Las Vegas, 89106. Job seekers are strongly encouraged to pre-register for the event at nvcareercenter.org/2021-small-business-job-fair, and may also register at the job fair. Only those who are registered will be eligible for a $500 bonus.

“Many small businesses are unable to compete with the hefty signing bonuses and incentives that larger companies can offer,” Clark County Director of Community and Economic Development Shani Coleman said. “By strategically utilizing American Rescue Plan Act funds to incentivize the labor market, we can even the playing field and help small businesses find the talent they need to succeed.”

More than 100 businesses are already expected to attend the job fair in search of new employees. Local businesses with less than 200 employees interested in attending should contact Mark Henderson at mhenderson@detr.gov  or go to https://www.clarkcountynv.gov/government/departments/economic_development/job_fair.php.

The $500 signing bonuses will be paid by Clark County, the City of Las Vegas, the City of North Las Vegas, or the City of Henderson according to where the small business that makes the hire is licensed to do business. The local governments will pay the signing bonuses for new full-time workers after a minimum of 30 days of employment.

Workforce Connections’ One-Stop Career Center and Nevada JobConnect will be at the fair offering no-cost resources and help for job seekers. The Southern Nevada Health District will operate a free pop-up COVID-19 vaccine clinic for attendees, as well. Also, staff from the Clark County Social Service Department and Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada will be there to provide information about rent and utility assistance programs and the local eviction prevention program.
