Ryan High is the new executive director of the Silver State Health Insurance Exchange, the organization announced Mar. 2.

The exchange is the state agency in charge of offering citizens of Nevada affordable health insurance, and its board of directors voted unanimously Feb. 24 to fill the position, according to a release from the Gov. Steve Sisolak's office

“The exchange’s board of directors are excited to announce Ryan High as the new executive director of the Silver State Health Insurance Exchange,” Dr. Florence Jameson, chair of the board, said in the release. “Ryan’s long tenure with the exchange and zeal for decreasing Nevada’s uninsured population makes him an exemplary candidate for the executive director position.”

High was promoted from his position of chief operations officer with the exchange, a role he held since 2016.

The exchange stated that High was an exemplary leader and was a perfect fit to lead the health organization.

“It is an honor to serve as the new executive director of the Silver State Health Insurance Exchange, and I am committed to making sure every Nevadan has access to quality and affordable health insurance coverage, including those in our rural communities, the underserved and minority populations,” High said, according to the release.

Prior to the exchange, High was employed with the city manager’s office with the city of Reno, the release said. He worked on strategic initiatives and performance measures, along with spending six years at the Nevada Secretary of State’s office where was involved in efforts to register voters to vote before he was promoted to deputy secretary for operations.
