First responders rescued a woman who was at the top of the Strat Casino, prompting thanks from the city.
"Thank you to our @LasVegasFD technical rescue team and @LVMPD for their teamwork and quick action to save the life of a woman yesterday on the 108th floor of the Stratosphere,’’ the city tweeted Jan. 20.
In photos taken by the Las Vegas Fire Department the woman can be seen on the wrong side of the casino's rooftop security barriers, 3News reported.
It's not clear how she got there or why she needed help, the station said.
The Stratosphere was opened in 1996 by businessman and gambler Bob Stupak, Las Vegas Magazine reported.
Tycoon Carl Icahn purchased it in 1998 and did a complete renovation in 2001, the story said. Ican sold it in 2007.
The Top of the World restaurant is still one of the most popular in Las Vegas, the magazine said.
The hotel has a 1,049-foot tall observation deck, "the tallest freestanding observation tower in the United States," the Strat said on its website.
There are rides to the top of the hotel and even a wedding chapel, "Chapel in the Clouds," the Strat said.
