Representative Steven Horsford, serving Nevada’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress since 2019, has been vocal on social media regarding the importance of Medicaid. Horsford replaced Ruben Kihuen in Congress and previously served in the Nevada Senate from 2009 to 2013. He emphasizes Medicaid's role as a critical healthcare program, highlighting its efficiency and necessity for vulnerable populations.

On March 18, 2025, Rep. Horsford tweeted about Medicaid's efficiency: "Medicaid is a lean program. It has expanded to cover more people, but person spending growth has remained lower than other payers."

In another tweet posted shortly after on the same day, he emphasized the gravity of maintaining Medicaid: "This isn’t just a budget issue-it’s a public health crisis. Medicaid helps working families, seniors, and vulnerable communities. We can’t afford to lose it. HANDS OFF MEDICAID."

Later that day, Rep. Horsford shared an example illustrating Medicaid's impact by introducing Valerie: "Meet Valerie, for 27 years, Medicaid has been her lifeline, providing home care, support, and access to affordable prescription drugs. Without it, she wouldn’t have the freedom to live independently."
