On February 2 the North Las Vegas Police Department celebrated the graduation of 16 recruits from the Vegas Valley Police Academy, joining a highly-skilled force dedicated to serving the community.
Graduates completed an intense six-month-long academy that introduces them to the basics of policing. The academy establishes qualifications, training and standards for Nevada’s peace officers; provides instruction on local, state, and federal laws; develops leadership skills; and emphasizes customer service and community engagement.
The graduating class of Vegas Valley Police Academy 2022-02 consisted of seven women and two veterans. The graduates were celebrated with a badge pinning and swearing-in ceremony. The newly-minted police officers will undergo thorough field training and evaluation for the next six to eight months and will serve constituents from two North Las Vegas police stations.
