Rodefer on Major Unit Outstanding Letter of Appointment Instructional awards: 'We are honored to congratulate these esteemed faculty and staff members'

Eight instructional faculty members are being honored by the University of Nevada, Reno with a major unit outstanding certificate for their work on campus this past semester.  

According to a news release from the university, the faculty teaches classes at the undergraduate and postgraduate level and they were chosen due their ability to foster a culture in their classroom where students were able to maximize their potential through the extraordinary instruction they provided.  

“Since the Foundation was incorporated in 1981, our volunteer board of trustees has celebrated excellence among hundreds of university faculty and staff,” said 2021 and 2022 University Foundation Chair Jeff Rodefer ’85 (finance) in the news release. “We are honored to congratulate these esteemed faculty and staff members, and recognize the importance of continuing their great work on our campus.”

The university reported that the Letter of Appointment Instructional faculty members were diverse and came from various departments across the campus.

The professors were communication studies Professor Katherine LaPierre; educational studies Professor Heather Crawford-Ferre, Ph.D.; natural resources and environmental science Professor Mark Demuth; world languages and literatures Professor Roger Gary; Nevada Public Health Training Center Professor Taylor Lensch, Ph.D.; chemistry Professor Kaitlin Ochsenrider, Ph.D.; chemical and materials engineering Professor Nicholas Tsoulfanidis, Ph.D. and honors signature experience instructor Daniel Villanueva, Ph.D., according to the release.

“I know that our Pk-12 teachers are doing some of the most challenging and important work. I am happy to share my expertise and help build their toolbox as they engage with Nevada's children,” Crawford-Ferre said.
