Clark County recently issued the following announcement.
Clark County is hosting virtual public meetings later this month to inform residents about proposed updates to the County’s development and zoning regulations. The updates are intended to simplify the public’s understanding of Clark County code to ease their ability to do business with the County while fostering a greater understanding of what they can and cannot do on their property.
The updates are part of a multi-year project called Transform Clark County to establish a cohesive, countywide vision for the future and provide a clear strategy to achieve that vision. Currently, the County is in the process of rewriting development and zoning regulations to make them easier to use and understand as well as to bring them in line with the current trends in development.
The public meetings will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 25, and at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 31. Residents are encouraged to visit www.TransformClarkCounty.com for more information about this effort, and sign up for one of the online meetings through the events section on the website.
“We know that it can be tricky to navigate government and we are working to make the code and zoning process easier to understand as we modernize our regulations,” Comprehensive Planning Director Nancy Amundsen said. “We want residents to more simply know what they can do on their property, what their neighbors are allowed to do on their land, and what is permitted in their community. In doing so, we hope to foster greater awareness of how the County works in service to our constituents.”
Residents are able to review and comment on the proposed rewrites of County development and zoning regulations. The Transform Clark County effort includes a complete rewrite of Clark County’s key policy and regulatory documents — the Master Plan and Development Code. The updated Master Plan was approved in November, and the new Development Code is expected to be adopted early next year.
