A six-vehicle crash near Cheyenne and Commerce on Jan. 29 ended in nine dead and several injured after a driver crashed through an intersection.
North Las Vegas police are investigating the crash which occurred around 3 p.m., according to FOX 5. Sgt. Vince Booker reported that a Dodge Challenger was traveling at a high speed, ran a red light, then collided with multiple vehicles at the intersection.
"Kathy and I send our condolences to the families and loved ones affected by this tragedy," Gov. Steve Sisolak said in a tweet Jan. 30. "We all need to do our part to keep our roads safe.’’
Police that reported to the scene of the incident said that fifteen people were involved in the crash with ages ranging from juvenile to middle-aged. Emergency responders transported two to University Medical Center for critical injuries. One of which succumbed to injuries and was pronounced dead, the other is currently in critical condition, according to FOX 5. The driver of the Dodge as well died during the collision.
The Clark County Coroner's Office is currently working to identify all deceased victims of the crash, while police have shared that impairment is not suspected as the cause at this time.
