Continuing the City of North Las Vegas' success in returning federal taxpayer-funded relief dollars to local constituents for community benefit, nonprofit organizations can now submit initial applications for grants of up to $1.5 million to fund programs and projects that will serve North Las Vegas constituents as part of the NLVCares Community Grant Program.
Through June 11, the City of North Las Vegas is accepting pre-applications at NLVCares.com from 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations proposing programming and projects located in North Las Vegas and/or primarily serving North Las Vegas constituents.
“Since the onset of the pandemic, the City Council has championed forward-thinking programs to ensure an equitable recovery for our residents, who have historically been underserved,” North Las Vegas City Councilwoman Pamela Goynes-Brown said. “Our NLVCares program has helped close the gap by providing millions of dollars in mortgage/rent/utility payments, broadband access and small business loans. Now, we are excited to provide an additional $7.5 million in grants for community organizations to fund short- and long-term recovery initiatives.”
Funded by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), the NLVCares Community Grant Program is part of the City of North Las Vegas’ ongoing COVID response to assist workers, families, and businesses impacted by the global pandemic through the smart and effective use of federal aid within the community.
“The City’s targeted use of federal relief dollars provided a lifeline for families and small businesses to weather the health and economic challenges of the last two years, and these dollars will be deployed where they are needed most: to community organizations for programs and projects that level the playing field for all of our constituents,” City Manager Ryann Juden said.
Nonprofits must submit the pre-application by June 11. This will be an extremely competitive process, with priority given to projects that most closely align with the focus areas identified during the City’s widespread public input campaign, including education, economic development, job creation, public health and affordable housing.
Submitting a pre-application does not guarantee an organization will be invited to submit a full application nor does it guarantee funding. Organizations with proposals that most closely align with community and City priorities will be invited on or before June 26 to submit full applications.
A link to the pre-application, along with submission instructions in English and Spanish, are available at NLVCares.com.
