Rep. Steven Horsford, who represents Nevada’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of messages on May 7, 2026, highlighting economic concerns facing Nevadans during Small Business Month and Tourism Appreciation Week.
In his first post at 13:00 UTC, Horsford noted rising pessimism among business leaders in Southern Nevada, writing “Small Business Month. Tourism Appreciation Week. And Southern Nevada business leaders are reporting record pessimism. That’s not a coincidence. It’s a warning sign. When uncertainty rises, growth stalls. Hiring freezes. And workers feel it first. Nevada small businesses need”.
One hour later, he addressed the issue of increasing fuel costs in the state: “Gas prices are climbing again. And Nevada already pays more than the national average. This isn’t random. Global conflict is driving up oil prices, and Nevadans are absorbing the cost. At the pump. At the grocery store. At home. We need relief. And we need leaders who will fight”.
Later that day at 15:54 UTC, Horsford turned attention to food insecurity among residents: “Tens of thousands of Nevadans are losing food assistance. That’s not a statistic. That’s groceries. That’s meals. That’s families, already stretched thin, being pushed to the edge. We cannot afford to let families fall through the cracks.
