Rep. Steven Horsford, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Nevada’s 4th district, has been actively engaging with various community issues through his social media presence. On June 6, 2025, he shared insights from his meeting with students from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas School of Public Policy & Leadership.
In a tweet dated June 6, 2025, Rep. Horsford expressed enthusiasm about meeting UNLV students and praised their research as “bold, community-focused, and rooted in impact.” He discussed how decisions made in Washington D.C. are connected to their work and conveyed excitement for their future endeavors.
Later that day, on National Gun Violence Awareness Day, Rep. Horsford tweeted about the significance of the day by wearing orange to honor victims like Hadiya Pendleton. In his tweet from June 6, 2025, he stated: “I know what it’s like to lose someone to gun violence,” emphasizing his commitment to advocating for community intervention strategies aimed at preventing such tragedies.
On June 7, 2025, Rep. Horsford celebrated DC Pride through another tweet, acknowledging the LGBTQ+ community’s contributions and resilience in the nation’s capital. He noted: “Today we celebrate the LGBTQ+ community in the heart of our nation’s capital—honoring the love, courage, and history that fuel this movement every day.”
Steven Horsford has served in Congress since replacing Ruben Kihuen in 2019 and previously held office in the Nevada Senate from 2009 to 2013. Born in Las Vegas in 1973 and a graduate of the University of Nevada, Reno with a BA obtained in 2014, he continues to reside there.
