Rep. Steven Horsford, who represents Nevada’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, addressed the ongoing debate over affordable health care and recent government shutdowns in a series of posts on November 12, 2025.
In his first post, Horsford urged House leadership to prioritize action on health care legislation. He wrote, “The House has the power to act — and this fight isn’t over. It’s time to stand up for affordable health care for everyone. @SpeakerJohnson, do your job and vote for the American people.” (November 12, 2025).
Later that day, he referenced the duration of a recent government shutdown and its impact on his constituents in Nevada. Horsford stated, “My constituents didn’t endure 43 days of this #RepublicanShutdown just to roll over on the central argument – Nevadans need #AffordableHealthCare, not vague promises & procedural actions that offer ZERO certainty.
I’ve opposed this shutdown from Day One & worked in D.C. every” (November 12, 2025). He also posted a follow-up tweet containing only a link: “https://t.co/HlKxZgyMjY” (November 12, 2025).
Steven Horsford has served as a member of Congress since replacing Ruben Kihuen in 2019 and previously held office in the Nevada Senate from 2009 to 2013. Born in Las Vegas in 1973 and currently residing there, Horsford graduated with a BA from the University of Nevada, Reno in 2014.
