Rep. Steven Horsford, who represents Nevada’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, recently used his social media platform to address issues affecting working Nevadans and the broader Las Vegas community.
On August 5, 2025, Horsford posted about a congressional visit to Las Vegas and highlighted concerns over H.R.1’s approach to tip taxation. He wrote, “Ways & Means Republicans came to Las Vegas, so it’s only fitting that they hear from working Nevadans. Ted Pappageorge, Secretary-Treasurer of the @Culinary226, spoke out about why H.R.1’s approach to No Tax on Tips falls short.

Later that day, he recognized union achievements on the Las Vegas Strip by stating, “Every major casino on the Strip is now unionized. Without workers, there is no Las Vegas. Proud of @culinary226 and every other union on the Strip for making history and standing strong.” (August 5, 2025).
In a third post addressing federal policy impacts on social safety nets and Social Security in Nevada, Horsford wrote: “The Chief Actuary confirms it: President Trump’s tax & spend law hastens the depletion of Social Security’s trust funds. 123,000 Nevadans lose health care, 45,000 lose food aid, and now Social Security is under attack too.

Born in Las Vegas in 1973, Horsford continues to reside there and earned his BA from the University of Nevada, Reno in 2014.
