Rep. Steven Horsford, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Nevada’s 4th district since 2019, recently addressed issues affecting Nevada travelers and businesses through a series of posts on social media.
On November 17, 2025, Horsford commented on recent changes to flight restrictions: “It’s great to see that the FAA has lifted the #RepublicanShutdown flight restrictions. That means fewer delays, less uncertainty, and smoother travel for families heading in and out of Nevada. This is a major boost for our workers, families, and tourism industry. #NV04”
Later that day, Horsford highlighted concerns about tariffs imposed during Donald Trump’s presidency: “I’ve been sounding the alarm about Trump’s reckless tariffs for months, and now we’re seeing the real impact. Las Vegas small businesses like Mothership Coffee are getting hit with higher import costs, supply delays, and price pressure that gets passed straight to consumers. This” (November 17, 2025).
Continuing his commentary on economic issues in Nevada, Horsford posted: “All year, I’ve been warning about the #TrumpSlump, and now we’re seeing the consequences. Tourism is slowing, international travel is down double digits, and Las Vegas is feeling it. Slower tourism means fewer shifts and fewer tips for workers…higher prices for families as” (November 17, 2025).
Steven Horsford was born in Las Vegas in 1973 and continues to reside there with his family. Before joining Congress in 2019—succeeding Ruben Kihuen—he served in the Nevada Senate from 2009 to 2013. He graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno with a BA in 2014.
