Rep. Steven Horsford, who represents Nevada’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, has used his social media platform to address several issues relevant to his constituents, including tax policy on gaming winnings, education, and the impact of tariffs on local economies.

On August 11, 2025, Horsford criticized recent tax legislation by stating: ” If you win $100 and lose $100, you should owe $0 in taxes. But the GOP’s #ReverseRobinhood Tax & Spend law will tax you anyway. I’m fighting for the FAIR BET Act to protect Nevada’s gaming economy and keep the odds fair for everyone. #FairBetAct #NV04″.

The following day, August 12, he encouraged students at the start of a new academic year: “A new school year means new opportunities to grow, learn, and thrive! Whether you’re stepping into a classroom or taking on virtual learning, let’s make this year one of resilience, discovery, and success. Let’s show up, show out, and make it count. #BackToSchool”.

Later that same day on August 12, Horsford commented on economic policy under former President Trump: “Trump promised to lower prices on Day One. Instead, his blanket tariffs are raising prices on everyday goods and hurting Las Vegas tourism too. New families have enough to worry about just making ends meet, which is why I introduced a bill to exclude essential baby hygiene”.

Steven Horsford has served as the representative for Nevada’s 4th district since 2019 after replacing Ruben Kihuen in Congress. Prior to this role, he was a member of the Nevada Senate from 2009 through 2013. Born in Las Vegas in 1973 and currently residing there at age 49, Horsford graduated with a BA from the University of Nevada, Reno in 2014.
