Rep. Steven Horsford, who represents Nevada’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, addressed economic and social issues facing Nevadans in a series of posts on May 5, 2026.
In one post, Horsford highlighted rising consumer costs, stating on May 5: “Your margarita now costs $10.61 on average nationwide and even more here in Nevada. That’s not a coincidence. Trump’s tariffs are driving up the price of tequila and limes, and Nevadans are picking up the tab. This isn’t about cocktails. It’s about who’s really paying the price”.
Later that day, he acknowledged educators during Teacher Appreciation Week with another message: “Every breakthrough, every career, every kid who figured out they were good at something has a teacher behind it. This Teacher Appreciation Week, I’m thinking about Nevada educators who walk into classrooms every day stretched thin but still show up fully for their students. You”.
Addressing concerns over local real estate trends, Horsford wrote on May 5: “The warning signs in Nevada’s housing market are already here, and they’re showing up before a single foundation is poured. Builder confidence is dropping. Prices are being cut. Incentives are being dangled just to keep contracts alive. That’s not a healthy market. Too many”.
Steven Horsford has served as representative for Nevada’s 4th District since 2019 after replacing Ruben Kihuen and previously held office in the Nevada Senate from 2009 to 2013. Born in Las Vegas in 1973 and currently residing there at age 49, Horsford graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno with a BA in 2014.
