Rep. Steven Horsford, who represents Nevada’s 4th congressional district and has served in the U.S. Congress since 2019, addressed a range of national issues in a series of social media posts on September 17, 2025.
In an early post celebrating Smithsonian Day, Horsford emphasized the importance of preserving American heritage: ” Happy #SmithsonianDay! From Indigenous artwork to the Star-Spangled Banner, to the Space Shuttle, the Smithsonian keeps America’s story alive. These treasures inspire generations. We must protect and preserve them so they remain accessible to all.” (September 17, 2025)
Later that day, he criticized Republican leadership amid looming government funding challenges: “We are 5 days from a shutdown, and Republican Party leaders are walking us into chaos. 20 million Americans could lose health care. They handed billions to the rich and leaked the personal data of 300 million Americans. They control everything and still can’t govern.” (September 17, 2025)
Horsford continued his focus on health care policy in a subsequent message regarding legislative efforts: “A health care markup that ignores rising healthcare costs isn’t serious. My amendment protects 4 million Americans from losing coverage and prevents out of pocket premium costs from soaring 75% for some. If Republicans truly care about their constituents, they would permanently” (September 17, 2025)
Steven Horsford has represented Nevada’s 4th District since replacing Ruben Kihuen in Congress in 2019. Before joining Congress, he served in the Nevada Senate from 2009 to 2013. Born in Las Vegas in 1973 and currently residing there, Horsford is also an alumnus of the University of Nevada, Reno.
