Rep. Steven Horsford, a U.S. Congressman representing Nevada’s 4th district since 2019, addressed the challenges facing rural healthcare and tax policy for tipped workers in a series of posts on September 3, 2025.
In his first post at 17:29 UTC, Horsford wrote, “When rural hospitals close, families get stranded without care. Even in Las Vegas, we feel the ripple effects, from ER backlogs to higher costs. We need to strengthen independent health networks & keep rural care alive. #Ruralhealth

At the same time, Horsford commented on recent federal action regarding tax policy for tipped workers: “The Trump admin listened to @repdinatitus, @RepSusieLee & me—we demanded clarity on who qualifies for “No Tax on Tips.” Workers deserve answers, and now they have them. https://t.co/BHzbkEQeE0”.
Steven Horsford was born in Las Vegas in 1973 and continues to reside there. He has served as Nevada’s representative in Congress since replacing Ruben Kihuen in 2019 and previously held office in the Nevada Senate from 2009 to 2013. Horsford is also an alumnus of the University of Nevada, Reno.
