Rep. Steven Horsford, a U.S. Congressman representing Nevada’s 4th district since 2019, addressed local economic and political issues in a series of tweets posted on May 7 and May 8, 2026.
On May 7, Horsford highlighted the challenges faced by small business owners in North Las Vegas. He wrote: “This week on Congressman on the Job, I got behind the line at My Garage Kitchen in North Las Vegas to hear directly from Manny, a small business owner feeling the squeeze of rising costs and supply chain pressure. He survived the pandemic. Reopened his doors. Kept serving his”.
The following day, he commented on a recent Supreme Court decision affecting voting rights in Nevada: “The Supreme Court’s ruling weakens voting rights for Nevadans. And we can’t be silent about it. But we can rebuild. Stronger laws. Fairer maps. A democracy that actually works for everyone. That’s what I’m fighting for.” (May 8).
Later that same day, Horsford drew attention to rising fuel prices and their broader economic impact: “Diesel is over $6 a gallon in Nevada. That hits truckers first. Then small businesses. Then your grocery bill. Higher fuel means higher food prices. That’s not a coincidence. That’s a chain reaction, and Nevadans are the ones paying for it.” (May 8).
Steven Horsford has served as the representative for Nevada’s 4th District since replacing Ruben Kihuen in 2019 and previously held office in the Nevada Senate from 2009 to 2013 (source: biographical information). Born in Las Vegas in 1973, Horsford continues to reside there today after graduating from the University of Nevada, Reno with a BA in 2014.
