U.S. Sen. Jacky Rosen (D-NV) is promoting the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law which will provide federal funding to go towards renovating and restoring bridges throughout Nevada.
Rosen was joined by Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve and officials from the Regional Transportation Commission of Washoe County and the Nevada Department of Transportation to discuss the benefits the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law would have for the state’s bridges, according to a release from her office. Funding from the infrastructure package will be used to complete the Arlington Avenue Bridges Project.
“The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is the largest investment in our bridges in American history, and I’m proud to have helped deliver this legislation to improve critical infrastructure in Nevada,” Rosen said, according to the release. “This once-in-a-generation investment in our state will not only rebuild our infrastructure, but will create good-paying jobs and improve the quality of life for Nevadans.”
The bridges over the Truckee River are almost a century old and are in dire need of repair. Last year, Rosen was able to secure $7 million in federal funding to begin renovation efforts, according to the release/
The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law will provide approximately $45 million for highway bridge repairs across the state. The funds will be used to improve 28 bridges across Nevada that are currently in need of repair.
The infrastructure package also includes Rosen’s bipartisan bills to provide funding to improve broadband infrastructure, boost the recovery of the tourism throughout the state and increase the electric grid’s cybersecurity.
