Rep. Steven Horsford, a U.S. Congressman representing Nevada’s 4th district, used social media on October 15, 2025, to express concerns about the effects of a GOP-led government shutdown and rising health care costs on Nevada families and small businesses.
In a post published at 16:36 UTC, Horsford wrote, “Recently, I met with some of Nevada’s Latino leaders to discuss how the GOP shutdown is hurting NV families & small businesses. We’re fighting to protect healthcare & working people. #NV04 https://t.co/aaVb5ylfXy”.
Later that day, at 19:28 UTC, Horsford addressed ongoing concerns about health care access and affordability. He stated, “For months, I’ve been sounding the alarm about the Republican created health care crisis.
I’ve met with health care providers and hosted roundtables across my district to hear directly from those affected.
Health care isn’t optional – it’s essential. Republicans must take this https://t.co/IkhfsRFfIx“.
At 19:33 UTC, he referenced reporting by The Washington Post regarding national trends in insurance premiums, noting the impact on working families in his state. He wrote, “The Washington Post reports that ACA premiums are rising nationwide – and working families across Nevada are going to feel the squeeze.
When health insurance costs surge, many families have to make tough choices. They’ll either end up paying more or losing coverage altogether.”
Horsford has represented Nevada’s 4th congressional district since 2019 after succeeding Ruben Kihuen. Prior to his current role in Congress, he served in the Nevada Senate from 2009 to 2013. Born in Las Vegas in 1973 and currently residing there, Horsford earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Nevada, Reno in 2014.
