Rep. Steven Horsford, who represents Nevada’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, has recently addressed several pressing issues through his social media posts, including the ongoing government shutdown, healthcare funding, and congressional procedure.
On October 14, 2025, Horsford commented on the ongoing government shutdown, now in its fourteenth day, and its potential impact on the nation’s economy and credit rating. He stated, “Day 14 of the Republican Shutdown
Last week’s S&P hearing made one thing clear: this shutdown isn’t just political theater –
It’s putting America’s credit, economy, and working families at risk.
@HouseDemocrats are here – ready to work, ready to negotiate, and ready to https://t.co/3iCzciR9qO” (October 14, 2025).
The following day, Horsford turned his attention to healthcare concerns, specifically the risks facing rural hospitals in Nevada due to proposed cuts in Medicaid and federal health programs. He wrote, “Rural hospitals are at risk. Cuts to Medicaid and federal health programs could force facilities to scale back or close, leaving families with nowhere to turn for care. Nevada can’t afford these cuts. Health care access should never depend on your zip code.” (October 15, 2025).
Later that same day, Horsford addressed congressional procedure, calling for Speaker Johnson to swear in Congresswoman-elect Adelita Grijalva of Arizona’s 7th Congressional District. He stated, “I’m here with Congresswoman-elect Adelita Grijalva, representing the great state of Arizona’s 7th Congressional District. The voters have spoken — it’s time for Speaker Johnson to do his job and swear her in. Democracy doesn’t wait. https://t.co/h5lN7EQ8uU” (October 15, 2025).
Steven Horsford has represented Nevada’s 4th District in Congress since 2019, after succeeding Ruben Kihuen. Prior to his tenure in Congress, he served in the Nevada Senate from 2009 to 2013. Born in Las Vegas in 1973, Horsford continues to reside in the city and earned a BA from the University of Nevada, Reno in 2014.
