Rep. Steven Horsford, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Nevada’s 4th district, has recently used his social media platform to address concerns about health care costs and the potential impact of proposed cuts to Medicaid and Medicare.
On October 18, 2025, Horsford shared a message from a constituent: “My parents rely on Social Security. I rely on Medicaid to care for them. If Republicans cut Medicaid & Medicare, I lose my job – and they lose their home. These programs aren’t luxuries. They’re what keep families like mine alive.” – From Chantille a NV – 04 resident.
The following day, October 19, he commented on the state of health care affordability: “Health care costs are already crushing families and Republicans want to make it worse. Instead of working with Democrats to lower prices, they’re driving them higher. Working people can’t afford this cruelty.”
Later that same day, Horsford criticized House Republicans for their absence during ongoing debates about health care coverage: “If you’ve seen the House GOP, please let Congress know — because they’re nowhere to be found.
While millions are at risk of losing their health care, they’ve gone missing.
Do. Your. Job.”
Steven Horsford has represented Nevada’s 4th District in Congress since 2019 after succeeding Ruben Kihuen and previously served in the Nevada Senate from 2009 to 2013. Born in Las Vegas in 1973, Horsford continues to reside there and graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree.
