Rep. Steven Horsford, who represents Nevada’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, used his social media platform on August 25 and 26 to address economic and data security issues affecting Nevadans and working families.

On August 25, Horsford expressed support for unions and criticized recent legislative efforts: “Unions built the middle class. Trump’s Big Ugly Bill threatens it. In Nevada, union workers power our economy, make government efficient, teach our kids, and care for our families. I’ll always stand with them to protect fair wages, benefits, and rights. #1u #NV04”.

Later that same day, he commented on tax policy and its effects on different socioeconomic groups: “Billionaires get tax breaks. Working families get higher grocery bills. Trump’s agenda is clear: reward the wealthy, squeeze everyone else. Families in Nevada can’t afford it. #TrumpSlump #BigUglyBill”.

On August 26, Horsford raised concerns about a data breach involving Social Security information: “I warned about DOGE months ago. Now a whistleblower says our Social Security data—including names, addresses, and SSNs—was dumped on an unsecured server. Millions are at risk of identity theft. Time for Speaker Johnson and Congressional Republicans to stop stalling and start”.

Steven Horsford has served as the representative for Nevada’s 4th district since 2019 after replacing Ruben Kihuen (source). He previously served in the Nevada Senate from 2009 to 2013 (source). Born in Las Vegas in 1973, Horsford currently resides there at age 49 and holds a BA from the University of Nevada, Reno.
