Rep. Steven Horsford, who represents Nevada’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on October 11, 2025, criticizing Republican actions regarding health care and federal worker protections.
In a tweet posted at 14:11 UTC, Horsford stated, “Democrats were working this week while Republicans were on vacation. We will keep fighting for your health care, affordable health insurance, and protecting federal workers.”
Later that day at 15:50 UTC, he commented on recent legislation affecting Nevada families: “Nevada families are paying the price for Republicans’ Big Ugly Bill. It strips away Medicaid and Medicare, drives up insurance costs, and threatens care for thousands of Nevadans — from seniors on fixed incomes to parents already struggling to afford prescriptions and doctor”.
At 20:18 UTC the same day, Horsford addressed concerns about potential increases in marketplace premiums if Congress does not act: “If Congress doesn’t extend the ACA tax credits, marketplace premiums could more than double – hitting working families hard. Republicans don’t have to leave people behind. They have the power to protect your health care. Let’s demand action now.”
Steven Horsford has served as a member of Congress representing Nevada’s 4th District since 2019 after succeeding Ruben Kihuen. He previously served in the Nevada Senate from 2009 to 2013. Born in Las Vegas in 1973 and currently residing there, Horsford graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Nevada, Reno in 2014.
