Rep. Steven Horsford, who represents Nevada’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, has used his social media platform to criticize Republican policies on health care, particularly in light of recent legislative developments and a government shutdown.
On October 19, 2025, Horsford posted, “Republicans’ assault on health care is hurting real people across my district. People like Eva whose only “crime” is taking care of her parents. Now her health care is at risk because of politicians who simply don’t care.
When will it be enough? Republicans passed their Big Ugly”.
Continuing his criticism the following day, Horsford wrote on October 20, 2025, “Republicans are twisting the truth. The Advanced Premium Tax Credit isn’t a “subsidy,” it’s a tax credit that uses our tax code to help working families. But Republicans are fine giving tax breaks to billionaires while blocking relief for everyday Americans. Democrats are”.
Later that same day, Horsford addressed the ongoing government shutdown, stating, “The Republican Shutdown is about one thing: health care.
While premiums are set to skyrocket on Nov. 1, Republicans are on vacation. Democrats are fighting to end this shutdown and protect affordable care.
#RepealTheCuts”.
Steven Horsford has represented Nevada’s 4th District in Congress since 2019, after replacing Ruben Kihuen. Prior to his tenure in Congress, Horsford served in the Nevada Senate from 2009 to 2013. Born in Las Vegas in 1973, Horsford continues to reside there and holds a BA from the University of Nevada, Reno, earned in 2014.
