Rep. Steven Horsford, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Nevada’s 4th district, has voiced concerns over ongoing political and healthcare issues in a series of posts on social media.
On October 15, 2025, Horsford commented on the state of the federal government shutdown, writing, “Day 15 of the Republican shutdown. I’m here in D.C. with @HouseDemocrats while Republicans are asleep at the wheel and refusing to even negotiate. We’re staying on the job and fighting to reopen government and protect the American people.”
Later that day, he addressed healthcare policy changes expected to take effect in early November. Horsford stated, “We’re just 2 weeks away from the Republican assault on health care taking hold – on November 1st, their inflated premiums will be locked in for 2026. It’s not too late to repeal their cuts, extend tax relief to working families, and save affordable health care for the American”.
On October 16, 2025, Horsford highlighted potential impacts for Nevada residents, noting, “Nevadans could see their premiums jump from $595 → $2,021 a month — a $1,425 increase for a nearly identical plan. That’s what happens if Republicans refuse to act. Families can’t afford these hikes.”
Horsford has represented Nevada’s 4th District since 2019, after previously serving in the Nevada Senate from 2009 to 2013. He was born in Las Vegas in 1973 and currently resides there. Horsford holds a BA from the University of Nevada, Reno, earned in 2014.
