Rep. Steven Horsford, who represents Nevada’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, has used his social media platform to criticize Republican actions regarding healthcare policy and a government shutdown. In a series of posts on October 9, 2025, Horsford focused on the potential impact of these developments on health insurance premiums for Nevada families.
Later that day, he addressed congressional leadership directly: “Mr. Speaker, we’ve made our position clear: protect the ACA, keep the government open, and stop playing games with people’s health care. The ball’s in your court. https://t.co/u9RzdDZYoe”
In a subsequent post on the same day, Horsford reiterated his stance: “The Republican Shutdown is about healthcare – a fundamental right & an economic imperative. We are out of time for Republican gamesmanship. Premiums for 2026 are set on November 1st. https://t.co/JzpUoCnbT3”
Steven Horsford has served as a member of Congress since 2019 after succeeding Ruben Kihuen. Before his tenure in Congress, he was a member of the Nevada Senate from 2009 to 2013. Horsford was born in Las Vegas in 1973 and continues to reside there. He graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2014.
Horsford’s recent statements reflect ongoing debates over health care policy and government funding at the federal level.
