Rep. Steven Horsford, who represents Nevada’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, has recently posted a series of statements on social media addressing the impact of proposed Republican health care legislation and reflecting on Nevada’s resilience.
On September 19, 2025, Horsford criticized Republican health policy proposals, writing, “The GOP’s Big Ugly Law is the biggest health care cut…EVER. Here’s what it means in Nevada 83,000 Nevadans could lose Medicaid Hospitals and nursing homes face deep cuts Costs increase for everyone”. In a follow-up post later that day, he stated, “Republicans aren’t lowering costs. They aren’t expanding health care. They aren’t protecting people’s data. They aren’t meeting the moment. And while they claim Democrats are blocking progress, they won’t even consider a single one of our amendments. It’s a joke.”
On September 20, 2025, Horsford turned his attention to local matters and posted about the perseverance of Nevada residents: “Tourism may face ups and downs, but Nevada’s determination never wavers. Strength. Unity. Nevada. From hardworking families to resilient small businesses, our communities rise through every challenge.”
Steven Horsford has represented Nevada’s 4th District in Congress since 2019 after replacing Ruben Kihuen and previously served in the Nevada Senate from 2009 to 2013. Born in Las Vegas in 1973 and currently residing there, Horsford graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno with a BA in 2014.
