Rep. Steven Horsford, a U.S. Congressman representing Nevada’s 4th district since 2019, posted a series of tweets on August 1, 2025, criticizing the economic performance under former President Trump and congressional Republicans.

In his first post, Horsford stated: ” On Day 1, Trump and Republicans in Congress promised a booming economy and rising wages. Reality? Only 73K jobs in July—plus 258K in downward revisions to May & June. That’s just ~35K jobs/month, the slowest pace outside the pandemic since 2010.” (August 1, 2025).

He continued his critique by highlighting unemployment trends: ” National unemployment is up to 4.2%, layoffs are rising, and workers aren’t moving jobs—clear signs families are losing confidence in the job market.” (August 1, 2025).

Addressing manufacturing and related sectors, Horsford wrote: ” Trump promised tariffs would bring back manufacturing. The truth? Manufacturing is down. We’ve lost jobs in construction, professional services, and even government.” (August 1, 2025).

Steven Horsford has served as the representative for Nevada’s 4th District since replacing Ruben Kihuen in Congress in 2019. He previously held office in the Nevada Senate from 2009 to 2013. Born in Las Vegas in 1973 and currently residing there at age 49, Horsford earned his BA from the University of Nevada, Reno in 2014.
