Rep. Steven Horsford, a U.S. Congressman representing Nevada’s 4th district since 2019, has used his social media platform to address healthcare issues and commemorate the anniversary of the Las Vegas shooting.
On September 30, 2025, Horsford criticized House Speaker Mike Johnson and Republican leadership in a post, stating: “.@SpeakerJohnson: @HouseDems are here & ready to work. The American people can’t afford your obstruction. The GOP caused devastating healthcare cuts – you have a duty to undo them. Stop the games. Open the doors. Let us do our jobs.”
The following day, October 1, Horsford reflected on the tragic mass shooting that occurred in Las Vegas eight years prior. He wrote: “Today marks one of the most solemn days for our city. On October 1st, 60 lives were stolen and hundreds more were injured in a tragedy that shook Las Vegas to its core. My heart is with every family, survivor, and loved one impacted. What defines us is not just the pain of that”.
Later on October 1, Horsford shared stories from constituents affected by healthcare policy changes: “A small business owner in my district relies on the Advanced Premium Tax Credits to keep his wife and daughter covered. Without it, their costs could triple—threatening their health and his business.

Steven Horsford was born in Las Vegas in 1973 and continues to reside there today. He succeeded Ruben Kihuen as representative for Nevada’s 4th congressional district in 2019 after previously serving in the Nevada Senate from 2009 to 2013. Horsford holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Nevada, Reno.
