Rep. Steven Horsford, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Nevada’s 4th district, used his social media platform on October 8, 2025, to address issues related to healthcare and engage in a friendly sports wager with a fellow lawmaker.
In his first post of the day, Horsford criticized Republican lawmakers for their stance on healthcare and called for bipartisan cooperation. On October 8, 2025, he wrote: “The GOP is waging a war on affordable healthcare & @HouseDemocrats are fighting back. Tune in live as we demand Republicans come back to the table, reopen the government, and prevent healthcare premiums from doubling. It’s time to repeal the Republican assault on healthcare.”
Later that day, Horsford engaged with Rep. Greg Stanton in a lighthearted challenge involving professional basketball. At 19:03 UTC, he posted: “Let’s raise the stakes @RepGregStanton. When the @LVAces win, you have to rock an @_ajawilson22 jersey and post a photo.”
In another post on the same day, Horsford emphasized the importance of healthcare access for families across the country. He stated: “For millions of families, access to health care is the difference between stability and crisis. It’s not a privilege – it’s a basic right. And it’s worth fighting for.”
Steven Horsford has served as the representative for Nevada’s 4th District since 2019 after succeeding Ruben Kihuen. Before his tenure in Congress, he was a member of the Nevada Senate from 2009 to 2013. Born and residing in Las Vegas, Horsford graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno with a bachelor’s degree in 2014.
