Rep. Steven Horsford, who represents Nevada’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on December 5, 2025, addressing local health care facilities, the economic impact of sports in Las Vegas, and concerns about law enforcement actions.
In his first post at 21:46 UTC, Horsford wrote about his visit to a local brain health center: “This morning, I visited the Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health, a place dedicated to supporting Nevadans living with Alzheimer’s, dementia, and cognitive impairment, and the caregivers who stand with them. The center was designed by the legendary Frank Gehry, whose visionary work”.
Later that day at 21:57 UTC, Horsford highlighted the significance of boxing and sports to Las Vegas’ economy: “Las Vegas knows what boxing means. From Hagler–Hearns under the neon lights to today’s biggest bouts, this sport is part of Nevada’s identity. Sports aren’t just entertainment here. They drive nearly 30% of our city’s GDP, support one in four workers, and brought in $1.8B in”.
At 22:30 UTC on December 5th, Horsford commented on an incident involving another member of Congress and law enforcement actions: “.@Rep_Grijalva was simply doing her job and standing up for her constituents. The use of pepper spray against a community member, especially when there isn’t a threat of violence is, completely unacceptable, and cannot be tolerated under any circumstance.”
Steven Horsford has represented Nevada’s 4th District since replacing Ruben Kihuen in 2019 and previously served in the Nevada Senate from 2009 to 2013. Born in Las Vegas in 1973 and currently residing there as well, Horsford graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno with a BA in 2014.
