Rep. Steven Horsford, who represents Nevada’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, addressed concerns about health care and tariffs in a series of posts on December 12, 2025. Horsford, who has served in Congress since 2019 after replacing Ruben Kihuen and previously served in the Nevada Senate from 2009 to 2013, used his social media platform to highlight issues affecting his constituents.
On Universal Health Coverage Day, Horsford posted about the struggles faced by various groups in his district: “On Universal Health Coverage Day, I’m thinking about the people I represent across NV-04 – seniors stretched thin by high premiums, parents choosing between bills and prescriptions, veterans navigating complex coverage systems, and rural communities fighting to keep clinics open.” (December 12, 2025)
Later that day, he criticized former President Donald Trump’s stance on tariffs during an “affordability tour,” stating: “You can launch a tour all you want, but facts don’t lie: Americans, and Nevadans, are feeling their pockets stretched thin because of reckless tariffs. Donald Trump kicked off an ‘affordability tour’ claiming tariffs are ‘good for the economy’…the same tariffs that are” (December 12, 2025)
In another post on December 12, Horsford commented on the impact of tariffs during the holiday season: “You can call it a ‘holiday tariff surprise’ – toys and other gifts are more expensive this year, thanks to Trump’s trade war. Many small toy makers have already raised prices by 20% or more. Families across America, and here in Nevada, deserve to receive something better than”
Horsford was born in Las Vegas in 1973 and continues to reside there. He graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno with a BA in 2014.
