Rep. Steven Horsford, who represents Nevada’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, addressed economic concerns and criticized federal policy decisions in a series of tweets posted on December 12 and 13, 2025.
On December 12, Horsford commented on efforts to influence the Federal Reserve’s monetary policy, stating, “You can’t strong-arm the Fed into cutting rates. The Fed is independent for a reason; it responds to inflation, wages, and real economic conditions. And let’s be clear: we’re in this mess because of your reckless trade war, Mr. President. Families in Nevada deserve real solutions”.
The following day, he highlighted volatility in energy prices and its impact on households: “Just as we’re finally seeing some relief on gas prices, natural gas prices have spiked 39% since September, which means heating bills could soar this winter. For families, especially working households already squeezed by inflation, saving at the pump only to pay more to heat a”.
In another tweet posted at the same time on December 13, Horsford shared feedback from his constituents regarding health care and tax policies: “I hear from families in Nevada all the time; people like Sarah and so many others who are struggling to get by. When I meet with constituents, they tell me how the Republican health care cuts and their refusal to extend tax credits are hurting their families. Refusing to extend”.
Steven Horsford has served as U.S. Representative for Nevada’s 4th District since replacing Ruben Kihuen in 2019. Prior to his tenure in Congress beginning that year, he was a member of the Nevada Senate from 2009 to 2013. Born in Las Vegas in 1973 and currently residing there at age 49, Horsford earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Nevada, Reno in 2014.
