Rep. Steven Horsford, who represents Nevada’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on his social media account at the end of August 2025 addressing economic and political concerns affecting his constituents.
On August 29, Horsford wrote about engaging directly with residents in his district: “This month, I’ve been on the ground in NV-04 listening to Nevadans’ concerns – health care, cost of living, the economy, immigration, and the future. I’m taking these conversations back to Washington and will always put Nevada’s priorities first.”
Later that day, he commented on recent economic data impacting Las Vegas: “The Trump Slump has landed in Vegas.
6% unemployment (3rd worst in America)
Tourism down 7% this year, 11% in June alone
1 in 3 local jobs are in hospitality
When visitors stay home, Nevadans pay the price.” The post highlighted key statistics regarding unemployment and tourism decline.
On August 30, Horsford reacted to news about tariffs imposed during Donald Trump’s administration: “Breaking News: Donald Trump’s illegal tariff taxes are indeed…illegal.
Nevadans deserve a refund. And Americans deserve a leader who isn’t a con man.”
Steven Horsford has represented Nevada’s 4th District since 2019 after replacing Ruben Kihuen. He previously served as a member of the Nevada Senate from 2009 to 2013 and was born and raised in Las Vegas, where he currently resides. In addition to his political experience, Horsford graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno with a bachelor’s degree in 2014.
