Rep. Steven Horsford, a U.S. Congressman representing Nevada’s 4th district since 2019, addressed several issues in a series of posts on October 7, 2025, ranging from healthcare policy to the impact of a government shutdown and the commemoration of a significant anniversary.
In his first post, Horsford highlighted public support for extending health insurance tax credits under the Affordable Care Act, stating on October 7, 2025: “78% of Americans want Congress to extend the ACA health insurance tax credits. When people’s lives are on the line, ‘wait and see’ isn’t good enough. #ProtectHealthCare”.
Later that day, he addressed concerns about the ongoing government shutdown, emphasizing its effect on Social Security recipients. On October 7, 2025, Horsford wrote: “Social Security checks will continue to go out during the shutdown – but critical services could slow down or stop altogether. From delayed benefit verifications to longer wait times, this Republican shutdown is putting unnecessary stress on seniors who rely on these programs.”
In another post marking the anniversary of a significant event, Horsford stated: “Two years after the October 7 attack, the pain remains. Today we honor the lives lost and the loved ones still waiting for hostages to return home. May their memory be a blessing.” (October 7, 2025).
Steven Horsford has served in Congress since 2019 after replacing Ruben Kihuen and previously served in the Nevada Senate from 2009 to 2013. Born in Las Vegas in 1973, Horsford continues to reside there and holds a BA from the University of Nevada, Reno.
