North Las Vegas has launched the city’s first night court in an effort to make the judicial process more accessible to those who are unable to attend during the day, according to an 8 News Now report.

The night court is a traditional courtroom that works outside of normal business hours and focuses on traffic infractions.

“Great news! The North Las Vegas Municipal Court is making it easier to take care of a traffic ticket with the launch of the only night court of its kind in Nevada, beginning next week,” the City of North Las Vegas announced on Twitter on Oct. 20.

Court Chief Judge Chris Lee, who will preside over the night court’s cases, stated that the night court would protect people’s records by preventing warrants from damaging their records, 8 News Now reported.

Additionally, Judge Lee said that he and other city officials would examine several night court sessions to see if any changes to the hours or regularity of dates are necessary.

The court is currently scheduled to meet once a month.
