Representative Steven Horsford, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing Nevada’s 4th district since 2019, voiced his concerns over recent events involving former President Donald Trump and the current economic decisions being made under Republican leadership through a series of tweets. Horsford’s remarks highlight his scrutiny on the state of U.S. trade policies and budget plans which he argues are detrimental to everyday Americans.

On April 9, 2025, Horsford criticized former President Donald Trump for suggesting to his followers to purchase stocks while the market was in decline. Horsford tweeted, “At 9:37 AM, Trump told his followers to buy stocks. The market was tanking. The Trade Rep was set to defend harmful tariffs. Mid-hearing Trump flips. No warning. Not even to his top trade official. This isn’t leadership. It’s chaos.”

On April 10, 2025, he followed up by demanding transparency from Trade Representative Greene on the beneficiaries of Trump’s sudden reversal on tariffs. In a tweet, he stated, “I asked Trade Rep. Greene which billionaires got richer when Trump changed course on tariffs. Now we have an answer. All of them. The American people deserve answers on how this happened. Now.”

Later that day, Horsford also criticized the Republican party for their budgetary moves, describing it as detrimental to American families. He tweeted, “Today, Republicans moved one step closer to passing their Screw America Budget. Seems like they’re committed to raising costs and cutting the services Americans rely on everyday. It’s shameful, infuriating, and Nevadans deserve better.”

Steven Horsford, born in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1973, also served in the Nevada Senate from 2009 to 2013 and graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno in 2014 with a BA. He resides in Las Vegas and continues to actively represent his district in Congress.
