Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman, Las Vegas District 3 councilmember Olivia Diaz and Las Vegas government are showing off the design of the new Civic Plaza, according to a press release.

Further, Civic Plaza is a new project that consists of new city offices in addition to a very big plaza for meetings and events in the center of downtown.

“This is a going to be such a special project for @CityOfLasVegas,” Goodman said in a post to her official Twitter account on May 11.

The project is being organized and designed by LGA Architecture and drawings of the development will eventually be shown to the public. The project will take up an entire city block bordered by Main Street, Clark Avenue, First Street and Bonneville Avenue. Prior to revealing the Civic Plaza announcement, Goodman accepted the winners of the Mayor’s Urban Design Awards.

Moreover, these awards reward projects that boost the city’s commitment to sustainability and habitability. The winners are projects that make sidewalks and streets that are shared public spaces, promote safety, conserve resources, preserve historic buildings and sites, fit in unobtrusively with the other parts of the city and are centered around the convenience of pedestrians.
