Councilmembers Isaac Barron and Pamela Goynes-Brown are teaming up to get children and families ready for the new school year. Join us for this free backpack and school supply giveaway on Thursday, July 28 from 4-7 p.m. at Neighborhood Recreation Center, 1638 N. Bruce St. in North Las Vegas!

Each child will receive a new backpack filled with school supplies. Community partners also will be on hand to provide free hair cuts, dental screenings, EBT/TANF/Medicaid eligibility screening, resource information and back-to-school goodies.

“Equipping our babies with backpacks, pencils and other necessary school supplies relieves parents and teachers from having to worry about providing these items and enables students to start the school year prepared,” Mayor Pro Tem Pamela Goynes-Brown said. “As a career educator, I know how important it is for our students to start off the year on the right foot.”

“As a Clark County School District teacher, I know how important it is for children to have the proper tools to learn, and to be excited for class,” Councilman Barron said. “Education is one of my top priorities, and I’m thrilled to play a role in helping our future leaders achieve their very best.”

Backpacks and supplies will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Only kindergarten through 12th grade students will be eligible to receive a backpack. Please note, students must be in attendance to receive a backpack and supplies, and the giveaway is limited to one backpack per student.
